Project-Portfolio and Trifold Display

5th Grade

Students in fifth grade placed a bigger emphasis on the art of making. Making something encourages students to pose their own questions and pursue answers in an organic way.

Research shows that physical experience activates the sensorimotor region of students’ brains, which helps reinforce what they’re learning. If students use their hands as well as their minds, they’re essentially learning twice.

Students in the fifth-grade classes were given an opportunity to construct usable objects for the collection and display of their class work in the example of the Project Portfolio Folder and the Individual Trifold Display.

Using their classroom technology and the Henderson Hammock Elementary Art YouTube channel, students were able to create functional storage items for their ongoing work and a display that can be easily transported at the end of the year.
