For this presentation students are displaying examples of a ten-pointed star-polygon pattern. A common pattern found in Islamic mosaics and pattern art.
Students created two examples. One example followed the instructions provided on the Crayola worksheet on creating the ten-pointed star-polygon pattern and the other example was a design of their own using the same template, but the configurations of where the vertices lined up were of the students own choosing.
Although this second shape was open to the student’s curiosity, its formation was still based on the mathematical principle of the original design.
