Pasta Art

1st Grade

Students in the first grade were given the opportunity to experiment with collage using colored variations of pasta.

Students were given one of three under sea creature templates, Starfish, Seahorse, and Tropical fish. The seahorse was the most popular template.

Prior to beginning their collage, students were given photo examples of the sea creatures in their natural habitat. The teacher led a conversation on the various colors and textures that are present, and students colored in their templates based on the examples shown.

Students cut out their templates and glued them on construction paper before utilizing the pasta medium. Once students had finished collaging their sea creature, they were given the opportunity to create their own artwork using pasta and glue.
